SafeView Back to home

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

The short version: your browsing stays on your device. Safe View never sends the websites you visit, your keywords, your lists, or anything you type. It sends only anonymous usage counts, which you can turn off in Settings.

What Safe View stores on your device

Safe View keeps the following in your browser's local extension storage. None of it is sent to us.

What we never collect

Anonymous usage counts

To improve Safe View, we collect anonymous usage counts. These include which screens and features are used, and coarse counts such as streak ranges. The events use fixed categories, not free text, so they cannot contain a website address or anything you typed.

Usage counts are on by default. You can turn them off at any time in Settings in the dashboard. Turning them off stops all usage events from being sent. The setup screen explains this before you choose.

Usage counts are sent to PostHog, a product analytics service, and are associated with a random identifier, not with your identity. We don't attempt to identify you.

Permissions

Safe View uses these permissions only for the purposes above.

Accountability partner messages

The Reach out tool opens a message in your own messaging or email app with a short, non-sensitive note filled in. You review and send it yourself. Safe View does not send messages on your behalf.

Children

Safe View is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Safe View handles data, we will update this page and the date above. Any change that adds new kinds of data will be shown in the extension's setup or settings before it takes effect.
